    hormone replacement

how much benefit to muscle growth does just replacing hormones not produced as a result of aging? eg doctors prescription levels of test and hgh? it seems to be taking off as a fad to get male hormone replacement, i guess the test helps more with people losing their driv, but i wondered if it would make a noticeable difference to muscle gains for say the 40 year old or so age group doing weights...

Not much if at all. It will make you feel better and recover better. As far as substanial growth, don't waste your money. Save it for a full course of gear.

I have mixed thoughts on this. Here's why. I'm 43 and have been on HRT for about 11 years straight. I take 100mg Test E every five days prescribed by a Dr. and 2 iu's of serostim GH a day. I don't "grow" to speak but i stay at 198 lbs at 5'10" with 8 to9% body fat year around. Jaywhy is right by the fact that i don't get any bigger but at that shape year round isn't bad for a 43 year old. When I did compete over a decade ago i was 255lbs so in summary if you have a solid base built from years of hard work you will maintain that base as you get older with HRT. if you never put in the work to build that base then i think you may be disappointed with results.Just my 2 cents

    Re: hormone replacement

i took 250mg test/ew for a year to test out the hormone replacement theory
I lost a ton of bodyfat without working out and added muscle mass
    i am 42
but the 250mg/ew was actually too much
if i did it again i would lower it

you're saying 200mg each 10 days and not seeing much
but i would venture a guess that if you went off it you would see a huge result
post 40 shit goes to hell fast so by staying where you are, that in and of itself is a great gain

    I was thinking 125/wk
which is 250/14 days vs your 200/10 days is about the same

I tend to agree with this and ghgut here....
A therapeutic dose (HRT prescribed by your GP) will replace your natural test to the normal level and you may grow as if you were a 20-30yo natural bber again. If you want to grow you need to increase that level by going on a certain cycle.

    Re: hormone replacement

Exactly. I don't grow or get bigger, but i'm tight and ripped all year. carrying 195 with single digeits body fat is pretty good at 43. i could not do that natuarally. last testosterone check my levels were 750mg/dl which is in the high end of the range but certainly not excessive. I freel great and recover quickly. I'm not competing anymore so it works for me
