    John Dunning

Founder and Member of GreatManJohn, formerly known as Anabolic Answering, one of the longest running Bodybuilding boards.

    who is john?
well, theres only one john dunning, lol.
john dunning was a bodybuilder from doncaster, he was a big guy, and well respected and knowledgable in all the local gyms where he would supply his supplement range from his popular website. (i found him there)
we then communicated by phone and the friendship began.
i found john to be a very honest, genuine, kind, caring and upfront.
as well as extremely knowledgeable and not just on bodybuilding.
He had a love for the medieval age, even owning a full coat of arms.
great sense of humor, always up for a laugh and a wind up.
i can remember times we would log onto a 3d chat system, and run around as these tiny graphics annoying the hell out of everyone.
    but he was serious too.
he didnt believe in big stupid cycles, or even doing steroids before you was ready too.
John was a guy that would say steroids was a last resort.
Get your diet right, your training right, your rest and recuperation, before anything else and he didnt like the younger guys doing steroids either.
if he seen some of the dosages done today by some of the beginners.....
John believed the same as me, that you cant call yourself a bodybuilder if you dont train ya legs!
he would always laugh at the guy in the gym that went all out on his upper body, but had these pathetic stilts to walk around on.

finally, John gained alot of respect on the internet, because of the amount of people he would help via email.
i can remember many conversations online with John, when was was both answering emails, and he would have to get through a daily average that was over a hundred emails.
    that wasnt spam emails either.
they were genuine emails from people looking for info or help...
if he missed just one day, he would struggle to get ahead again, so he made sure he sat in his computer chair and answered every email daily and not just 1 line replys too, he was genuinely interested in teaching and helping.
alot of those folk came back to the forums we had at the time, and paid there respects.
there was many condolences offered to the family, it was plain to see the respect that John had, even by those that didnt agree with his small cycles..

John Dunning died of Kidney Failure, in his 40's.
John Dunning from Doncaster, England, who has a daughter whom still comes to the board from time to time. RIP my friend. your legacy lives on, and for as long as we are here, it will always go on...

I had a chance to once to instant chat with him and Lewi maybe 9 or 10 years ago now. He was definately one that believe in using small amounts to acheive your goals, and that was not only for 1st timers but even more seasoned lifters as well. Small increases with each new stack was all that was needed to get good gains and remain on the safe side. What a loss at an early age.

He certainly helped me. Another young sad loss. I did get to know his daughter too over the years via the board.

    Re: John Dunning

Well, its 10 years now as vitaman said on when the greatmanjohn dunning left us, and the name change began.
I wanted to talk about the board, and the people here and what has been left behind in memory of John, and also where we intend to go.

Firstly, i cannot believe how great it is that all you guys come to the board and we can all keep in touch and chat about whatever we want, its great.
For me, this is my life, i dont socialise, you guys are the only mix up i get involved with now, occasional meets with mates but as a rule, its normally just the gang on the forums, and i do look forward to reading the new posts each morning, contributing when i can, although that isnt very often, since i dont often have much to contribute, although you must admit, my posts have got alot longer lately, its like freaks back, lol...and thinking of freak, wish he would hurry up and get his ass back here, anyways...
The board did go alittle stale back there, and its now on the climb again, people are posting and not just for posting sake, but because they are interested in what each other has to say.
I can honestly say i see myself dying on this board, what i mean by that is that ill be keeping the board alive for as long as im alive, and when i learn that im on the way out, then ill be letting you boys know, im hoping for a wee lewi somewhere in between the title greatman lewi john...
hahaha of course im fucking joking, lol.
anyways, back to the topic of conversation.
greatmanjohn has now not only become a forum but its slowly changing into a brand and that wont hurt at all.
as a forum, we remain small but if we expand our horizons alittle we can move this board onwards.
There is already sites being built, and online that now carry the greatmanjohn logo.
these sites are not all related to bodybuilding.
its simply a small name in the banner somewhere labelling the greatman as the builder of the site.
after another decade can you imagine how many sites will be carrying the brand name greatmanjohn. and as i get better at what im doing, ill get more clients and expand, and the credit is all going the greatmans way!
me thinks he would like it.

today i have created another addon in memory of the great man john and its called
    john dunning
anyone who types in John Dunning into google.com will find this page.

Ive checked the competition, and there are 343,000 websites that are in relation to a guy called John Dunning.
i think John would love to know that if anyone down here types in john dunning into google, he is number 1.
so its up there, watch this space, as it climbs, ill be informing you of the position.
will get back to you when its been indexed.

I have learned thru trial and error that john was right
you only need very small amounts of gear to grow amazing results
people taking grams of gear a week are wasting money and gear and risking huge sides they dont need
I know people over 40 taking gear 20 years that compete at a high level in powerlifting who have never *NEVER* TAKEN OVER 300MG TEST A WEEK
you can say what you like but they are bigger and stronger than all of us here

    you dont need it people
    keep it small
John knew what he was talking about
